Kuhestan Rural District (Persian: دهستان كوهستان)[3] is in the Central District of Behshahr County, Mazandaran province, Iran.[4] Its capital is the village of Kuhestan.[5]

At the National Census of 2006, its population was 17,420 in 4,453 households.[6] There were 16,680 inhabitants in 4,957 households at the following census of 2011.[7] At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 17,436 in 5,748 households. The most populous of its 10 villages was Gorji Mahalleh, with 6,129 people.[2]
