Participating in the 2007 Summer Universiade in Bangkok, Thailand, Silva won the bronze medal in the 100-metre freestyle.[11][12]

He was at the 2008 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m), in Manchester, where he reached the 4×100-metre medley final, finishing 6th,[14] and beating the short-course South American Record, with a time of 3:28.88, along with Guilherme Guido, Felipe França e Lucas Salatta.[15] Silva was also in the 100-metre freestyle final, finishing 8th[16][17] and the 4×100-metre freestyle final, also finishing 8th;[18] and he finished 14th in the 50-metre freestyle.[19]

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Silva participated in the 4×100-metre freestyle, but the Brazilian team was disqualified.[1][20]

At the 2009 World Aquatics Championships, held in Rome, Silva ranked fourth in the 4×100-metre freestyle, along with Nicolas Oliveira, Guilherme Roth and César Cielo, with a time of 3:10.80, a new South American record.[21]

He was at the 2010 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Irvine, where he finished 25th in the 50-metre freestyle,[22] 30th in the 100-metre butterfly,[23] and 49th in the 100-metre freestyle.[24]
