Canadian Valley Technology Center

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Canadian Valley Technology Center is a public career and technology education center in Oklahoma. The center opened in 1970 and has three main central Oklahoma campuses: El Reno, Oklahoma, west Oklahoma City and in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Canadian Valley is part of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education system.

The school offers tuition-free daytime career training to high school students and low-cost tuition for adults. The school also offers daytime and evening career training and short-term continuing education classes for adults.

Its Business & Industry Services division conducts customized training for area companies. College-prep Biomedical Sciences and Pre-Engineering programs are offered at the district's newest site, the Dr. Earl Cowan Campus (between Yukon, Oklahoma and Mustang, Oklahoma). The Chickasha campus offers Practical Nursing training, preparing for careers as a licensed practical nurse (LPN).

During the tornado outbreak of May 26–31, 2013, the El Reno campus of Canadian Valley Technology Center was largely destroyed, with damage from the school's four buildings estimated at $30 million.[1] The campus was reconstructed in 2017 and includes five above grade concrete tornado shelters for staff, students, and daycare children. [2]

The school was named for the North and South Canadian rivers, which run through the heart of its district.[3]
