Asgarabad (Persian: عسگراباد, also Romanized as ‘Asgarābād)[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Quchan Atiq Rural District of Quchan Atiq District, Quchan County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran.[4] The former capital of the rural district was the village of Shahr-e Kohneh,[5] now a city.[6]
At the 2006 National Census, its population was 702 in 193 households, when it was in the Central District.[7] The following census in 2011 counted 692 people in 218 households.[8] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 272 people in 88 households.[2]
In 2019, the rural district was separated from the district in the establishment of Quchan Atiq District, which was divided into two rural districts.[4]
