The Address on the State of the Nation on January 23, 1950,[a] is the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by Philippine President Elpidio Quirino.[2]

It is also the only SONA to be delivered through radio broadcast to the Congress of the Philippines and the only one where the president did not personally attend the Congress' joint session. Quirino who was in the United States was confined at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.[2][3] He was recovering from a heart ailment.[4]

Radio Computing Services was responsible for relaying the radio broadcast from Quirino in the United States to the Philippines. A Philippine-based radio network picked up the broadcast.[1] Speakers were set up back at the meeting place of the joint session.[4]
