Los alburnos son el género Alburnus de peces de agua dulce de la familia Cyprinidae, que se distribuyen por ríos de Eurasia.[1]​

Suelen vivir en cardumenes cerca de la superficie, donde se alimentan de plancton de crustáceos e insectos.[2]​
