William Richard Henry Hanson (born 2 September 1989) is a British etiquette coach, Sunday Times bestselling author,[1] and host of podcasts Help I Sexted My Boss and Keeping Up Appearances: The Luxury Podcast. He is currently the executive director and owner of The English Manner, an etiquette and protocol coaching company.[2][3]

Early life

William Hanson was born on 2 September 1989 in Bristol to Brian and Sarah Hanson. He boarded at Clifton College, a private school in Bristol,[4] before attending University of Manchester gaining a BA (Hons) in English Language, Literacy & Communication in 2011.[5][6]

Career

Hanson has appeared on various news outlets as an etiquette expert. He is also credited as being an etiquette advisor on Ushi Must Marry (2013) and Red, White & Royal Blue (2023).[7]

On 20 March 2018, Hanson and co-host Jordan North began the podcast Help I Sexted My Boss, which has run for over 400 episodes..[8][9] The podcast's signature cocktail is a gin and Dubonnet (G&D). This drink was loved by the Queen Mother and was drunk by Elizabeth II until her own death; it was popularised by the podcast resulting in a nation-wide shortage of ingredients following the death of Elizabeth II in September 2022.[10]

In November 2019, he was a visiting lecturer at the Georgetown University in Qatar teaching etiquette.[11]

In 2020 he attended the United Nations Institute for Training and Research.[12]

On 11 February 2021, the Acast hosted rewatch podcast, Keeping Up Appearances: The Luxury Podcast began with co-host Jonathan Vernon-Smith, it has since released 39 episodes as of 6 February 2024.[13]
