The Superstars International Series was a production-based touring car racing championship held between 2004 and 2013. It was managed by the "Superstars World of Racing SpA", SWR, a company of FG GROUP with headquarters in Rome[1] and sanctioned by the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) and the Commissione Sportiva Automobilistica Italiana (CSAI).[2] FG GROUP, led by Maurizio Flammini, is famous for having promoted the FIM World Superbike Championship from its beginnings in 1988 until its sale to Infront Sports & Media in 2007.[3]

After the shutdown of the promoter SWR in late 2013, the competition has been re-branded as EuroV8 Series and organized by FG Group and ATT (Associazione Team Top cars). SuperTouringSeries is going to be performed by Pan Asia Racing Enterprise Ltd. (PARE Ltd) in 2015.[4] However, it has been cancelled.

The new championship’s identity, partners, teams, sporting regulations and calendar was unveiled at the Autosport International show in January 2014.[5]

Asalamu alaikum warahmatoAllah Quran Weekly this is your brother Omar Suleiman. Welcome to the Superstars series. Insha'Allah ta'ala today we're going to start with the greatest human being that has ever walked the face of the Earth that was not a Prophet. And that was Abu-Bakr As-Siddiq radiyaAllahu ta'ala 'anhu and that is by the testimony of the Prophet (SAWS) himself. Now you can look at Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu and see that he was almost a copy of the Prophet (SAWS). He surpassed everyone in generosity. He surpassed everyone in modesty. He surpassed everyone in salah. He surpassed everyone in the recitation of the Qur'an. He surpassed everyone in everything. And that is why 'Ali radiyaAllahu 'anhu said about Abu-Bakr, "كان سباقاً لكل خير" [kaana sabbaqan likulli khayr] - If you think about something good, then Abu-Bakr would have already done it. But what makes him amazing, radiyaAllahu ta'ala 'anhu, is that he was as-Siddiq. He was the person whose truthfulness was testified to by the Prophet (SAWS). By the testimony of the Prophet (SAWS) he was the greatest man. Why? Because whenever he said he believed something, whenever he said he believed in the Prophet (SAWS), he meant it. There was consistency not only between his words and reality but between his actions and his words whenever he says that he loves Allah and the Messenger (SAWS). So we can see when his friend the Prophet (SAWS) comes to him and tells him, 'by the way I am the Messenger of Allah,' Abu-bakr that same day goes and brings some of the giants to Islam; Talha and Zubair, 'Uthman radiyaAllahu 'anhu, 'AbdulRahman ibn 'Awf. All of these great companions, he accounts for more than the 10 promised paradise that we are covering in this series. But truly, what I want to focus on today is his truthfulness and his love for the Prophet (SAWS). This was the man that whenever the Prophet (SAWS) was being beaten publicly, went and defended the Prophet (SAWS) although he was physically not that strong and was beaten to a point that he became unconscious. And Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu was beaten so badly that whenever his own mother saw him, she could not recognize his face because of how swollen it was. But as soon as he wakes from his unconsciousness he doesn't care about his own health, he's not dazed and he knows exactly what he's doing and he knows exactly what his purpose in life is. He says, 'Where is Muhammad (SAWS)? I want to see the Prophet (SAWS).' And his mother wants to give him food, his mother wants to give him drink to at least help him up to where he can walk on his own. And he says, 'I want to go to Daar-al-Arqam. I want to see the Prophet (SAWS) to know that he is okay.' SubhanAllah look at that deep love that he had for him. Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu was the one who went with the Prophet (SAWS) on hijra, on migration. And I want you to think about this. The Prophet (SAWS) comes to the house of Abu-Bakr As-Siddiq radiyaAllahu 'anhu and decides that he want Abu-Bakr to accompany him on the hijra. Rasool Allah (SAWS) is not just America's most wanted, or Mecca's most wanted in those days. Rasool Allah (SAWS) is the world's most wanted. He has a target on top of his head. And the Prophet (SAWS) comes to the house of Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu and says, 'I want you to accompany me on this journey. This was not a journey where we're going to ride in a limousine because I'm the Prophet of Allah and we're going to have bodyguards. This is a journey in which we are going to be marked for death. And Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu ta'ala 'anhu cries out of happiness. And 'Aisha radiyaAllah 'anha she said, "I know that some people could cry out of happiness but I never really understood it until I saw my father on that day when Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu started to cry and he grabbed the Prophet (SAWS) and he said, 'الصحبة يا رسول الله' [al-suhba yaa rasoolAllah]- I get to be your companion Oh Prophet of Allah! الصحبة يا رسول الله [al-suhba yaa rasoolAllah].' He was so happy that he got to be with the Prophet (SAWS). And even in the Hijra when Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu is with the Prophet (SAWS), imagine those moments in the cave together. Imagine when they were all alone. Imagine when they shared subhanAllah what were supposed to be the most horrifying moments but at the same time those were the best moments of Abu-Bakr's life. When Rasool Allah (SAWS) is sleeping and Abu-Bakr As-Siddiq radiyaAllahu 'anhu sees a scorpion coming into the cave and Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu puts his foot on the hole of that cave and allows the scorpion to drive deeply into his foot, to bite into his foot and he did not want to wake up the Prophet (SAWS) so even with the scorpion biting into his foot Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu does not even shriek but rather the tears coming down from his eyes fall on the Prophet (SAWS). And the Prophet (SAWS) would only be awoken by the tears of Abu-Bakr As-Siddiq radiyaAllahu 'anhu. And even in the journey of Hijra, when they came to the house of Umm Ma'abad radiyaAllahu ta'ala 'anha and they had had nothing to drink for days and finally the Prophet (SAWS) and Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu are going to get a chance to drink milk and satisfy their thirst and satisfy their hunger. And Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu says, 'فشرب الحبيب' [fasharib al-habeeb]- and so my beloved one drank, 'حتى ارتويت' [hatta irtawayt]- until I became full and MY thirst was quenched; just by looking at the Prophet (SAWS) drinking. Yes, Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu loved the Prophet (SAWS) so much that it transcended human norms. SubhanAllah. And we even see an incident that took place, it's a poem or qaseeda from Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu in which he says about the Prophet (SAWS), 'مرض الحبيب فعدته' [marid alhabeeb fa'udtuhu]- my beloved one became sick so I visited him 'فمرضت من ولهي عليه' [famaridto min walahee 'alayh]- so I became sick because I saw him sick. It caused me to become ill. 'فعادني الحبيب في مرضي' [fa'aadani alhabeeb fee maradee]- so whenever Rasool Allah (SAWS) got better, and my beloved one visited me because now I was sick. 'فبرئت من نظري إليه' [fabari't min nadhari ilayh]- so I looked at the Prophet (SAWS) healthy so I too became healthy. SubhanAllah. That's how much he loved the Prophet (SAWS) and that's why the Prophet (SAWS) always praised Abu-Bakr As-Siddiq radiyaAllahu 'anhu. And even at the end of the Prophet's life (SAWS) when he stood in the masjid to give one of his final speeches, Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu understood that one of the implications of that speech was that the Prophet (SAWS) was going to die, Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu burst into tears. And Rasool Allah (SAWS) said, " 'سدوا عني هذه الأبواب' [suddoo 'anni haadhihi al-'abwaab]." He said, "close all the gates of all the other sahaba/Companions to the masjid except for the gate of Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu. We have been able to repay everyone who has done something for us but I've never been able to re-pay Abu-As-Siddiq radiyaAllahu ta'ala 'anhu. I can never pay him back." SubhanAllah. Imagine the Messenger (SAWS) is saying to him, 'I can never pay him back because Abu-Bakr truly loved the Prophet (SAWS) more than he loved his own self. So much so, that when Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu worked for so long to try to convert his father to Islam, Abu Quhaafa, and when Abu Quhaafa finally accepted Islam and it was supposed to be one of the most joyous days of his life, he started to cry. And he was asked, 'Why are you crying?' And he replied, 'Because I remembered my beloved one SAWS when Abu-Talib, his uncle was passing away and how much the Prophet (SAWS) wanted Abu-Talib to be Muslim. But Abu-Talib did not accept Islam and Rasool Allah (SAWS) was so hurt because of that.' So he said, 'I wish Rasool Allah (SAWS) could live these moments instead of me.' SubhanAllah we see that love that Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu had for Rasool Allah (SAWS) was the true love that we should have. So I ask you with that, how much do you love Muhammad (SAWS)? Because that is what is going to get you his companionship on the Day of Judgement. Loving him and following him and subhanAllah how much do you want to live like him? And how much do you want to die with him? Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu wakes up at the age of 63 on a Monday and he realizes that he has a fever and he realizes that he is about to die on the same day that the Prophet (SAWS) passed away, at the same age that the Prophet (SAWS) passed away. And he asks his family to shroud him in the same clothes that the Prophet (SAWS) was shrouded in. And so it was destined that for the rest of the existence of this world, Abu-Bakr radiyaAllahu 'anhu would be buried right next to the Prophet (SAWS), and his head right next to the shoulder of the Prophet (SAWS) as if he's still leaning his head on the shoulder of the Prophet (SAWS) as was always done in dunya. It brings us to this beautiful hadith where there was a person that wanted the companionship of the Prophet (SAWS) in Jannah. And the Prophet (SAWS) asked him, "What have you prepared?" He said, "I haven't prepared much salaah or much siyaam. The only thing that I know I've prepared is that I love you, that I love you ya rasool Allah." So the Prophet (SAWS) said, "ستكون مع من أحببت" [satakoon ma'a mann 'ahbabt]- "You'll be with the one you love." How much do you love the Messenger (SAWS)? How much do you love Allah (SWT)? Without that love we cannot attain that lofty position in Jannaat-ul-Firdaous, the highest level of Paradise. So we ask Allah (SWT) to grant us that quality of truthfulness when we say I love Allah (SWT) and I love the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) and to gather us in the highest level of paradise with the Prophet and his companions. Allahumma ameen. JazakomAllahu khayran. I'll see you next week insha'Allah for the Superstars series. Wasalamu alaikum warahmatoAllahu wabaraktoho.

History

The series began in 2004 as Trofeo Nazionale Superstars (Superstars National Trophy) with a six race schedule, all the events held at Italian tracks. The initial field was made of BMW M5 and Jaguar S-Type models, entered by five teams.

From 2005 the series became the Campionato Italiano Superstars (Italian Superstars Championship), and soon became the main tin-top auto racing series of the country, replacing the Italian Superturismo Championship (folded in 2007).

BMW racing in the Superstars Series

In 2007 the series started to visit circuits in other European countries as the FIA approved International Superstars Series. Since then every season awards two different drivers' titles, one for the International Series and one for the Italian Championship. Points are gained for the Italian Championship at each Italian and one European race meeting.

With the 2010 season a new series was added, the International GTSprint Series allowing GT2, GT3 and nationally-homologated GTs. Uniquely, however, it has two 25 minute sprint events per weekend rather than the usual two-driver, long-distance runs that are the norm in GT competition.

The 2012 season saw the growth of the series in terms of media and spectators - attracting 33,000 fans to its race at Vallelunga in Rome on October 7, 2012.[6] Johan Kristoffersson won the championship in his KMS Audi RS5 after a season long battle with Vitantonio Liuzzi and his CAAL Racing Mercedes AMG C63. Kristoffersson's success in Superstars proved a strong element in advancing his career.[7]

The 2013 calendar contains eight races in 6 countries. The series promoters have given the series an umbrella name "The Superstars World of Racing" that reflects its international growth and refers to the entire weekend of events which includes The Superstars International Series, the GT Sprint International Series, local support races and entertainment events.[8]

Format and philosophy

Audi RS4 of the Superstars Series

Since 2009 the Series has run a two sprint race format. Race 1 to take place Sunday morning and Race 2 to take place Sunday afternoon.

The technical regulations are designed to bring the largest touring cars together in a balanced competition that limits costs, maximizes spectacle and limits driver assistance. A total of 10 brands will be represented in the 2013 edition: Audi RS5, BMW M3, Cadillac CTS-V, Chevrolet Lumina and Camaro, Chrysler 300C SRT8, Jaguar XF, Lexus ISF, Maserati Quattroporte, Mercedes C63AMG, Porsche Panamera.[9][needs update]
