Maiak (Ukrainian: Маяк) is a rural settlement in Pokrovsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine. Population: 1,174 (2022 estimate).[1]

Until 18 July 2020, Maiak was located in Dobropillia Raion. The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Donetsk Oblast to eight, of which only five were controlled by the government. The area of Dobropillia Raion was merged into Pokrovsk Raion.[2][3]

Demographics

According to the 1989 Soviet census, the population of Maiak was 258 people, of whom 142 were men and 116 women.[4]

According to the 2001 Ukrainian census, 274 people lived in the rural settlement.[5]
