Kingsgate is a port of entry in southeastern British Columbia,[1] just north of the Canada–US border at Eastport, Idaho, and is the site of the Eastport-Kingsgate Border Crossing.[2][3]
Kingsgate is on the Columbia Highway, BC 95, the north–south highway in the southeastern corner of the province. Opened in 1957, the highway goes to U.S. Route 95 from which the highway takes its number. It is also the point where the Union Pacific Railroad connects with Canadian Pacific Kansas City's railway line.
A silver and lead mine operated north of Kingsgate near 049°01′00″N 116°16′52″W / 49.01667°N 116.28111°W around 1948, with deposit types characterized as polymetallic veins Ag-Pb-Zn+/-Au.[4]

Water quality
An analysis of 11 years of results from a water quality monitoring station on the Moyie River near Kingsgate[5] stated that the river's water quality was "generally good", but with some metal levels exceeding provincial limits during freshets (high water events on a river resulting from snow and river ice melting or from heavy rain). E.coli and fecal coliform measurements indicated that the river's water could not be used for drinking water without filtration and disinfection.[6] Other reports about water quality at that location have also been published.[7]<ref>"Water quality assessment of Moyie Creek at Kingsgate (1980-2004)" (PDF).
