Male Voice The George Duke Humphrey Science Center biological sciences are housed in the southern structure, while physical science occupies the nothern building. The uniquely designed classroom building completes the complex, built in 1967 through 1969 and named for UW's president George Duke Humphrey who served as president when the complex was being built. Female Voice According to legend the design for the classroom building had its origins in a glass cake mold that one of the artchitects saw sitting on a table at home. Another story says it was inspirited by the standing rib roast at a Sunday dinner. At an interview with a student in the early 1990's architect Clinton Hitchcock strongly denied the truth of both stories. The interior murals done by UW art professors in the 1960's depict the 4 quadrants of Wyoming. Male Voice Today the classroom building as been completely remodeled to be a state of the art teaching facility, the biological and physical science buildings house extensive laboratory space plus a planetarium. The library annex is underground between the two buildings. Just north of the complex lays the health science center, completed in 2006 at the cost of twenty million dollars. It houses nearly every major the college of health sciences offers and features a mock hospital room.
