War ruins in Tilloloy (within artillery range of the German lines; don't think it was enemy-occupied in WW1). This seems to be a view (angled to the right) from inside the back wing of the Chateau Tilloloy, facing towards another structure on the property; apparently a church. The rear of the chateau faces onto a sort of "quadrangle" with other buildings on the left & right sides. This painting seems to match photographs of the location; both for architectural details of the structures, and for war-damage. Impressionist/Impressionistic watercolour. Signed "SOLD". No exact-name match artist has been found. Of the near/partial/etc. name-matches, the most likely (thus far) is Frederic (Fredric) A. "King" Soldwedel (1886-1957); an American artist, notably active in California, whose biographical information states that he "studied in France". The soft-edged impressionist watercolour matches his style, & the (abbreviated?) signature is close to the few examples seen on his known works available online. In researching Comité postcards, I have encountered a total of 6 cards signed "SOLD"; each card appears to be a landscape watercolour of war ruins. Presumably they are all by the same artist. Dates are hard to read from the other images but at least some seemed to be "1916". No images of the card-backs; no information about the card numbers. . . The 5 other "SOLD" cards are the ones in the 5-card group photo. Uploads of slightly more detailed images of the other "SOLD"-signed cards are pending. Will add more information later. Painted on a standard Comité des Étudiants Américains de l'École des Beaux-Arts Paris postcard blank, printed on the reverse with: 'The Comité des Étudiants Américains de l'École des Beaux-Arts Paris guarantee the authenticity of this post card' (signed R.
