I have now, to Comply with my Friends Importunities, Composed one intire Map of Great Britain, wherein, besides other usefull Improvements, you have the Royall Borroughs of North Britain particularly distinguish'd, which were never done before, and some of them are not to be found in any Map. also the New Forts Viz. Bernira, Kilwheimen, Ruthinan of Badenoch, and Innersnail. Note: This Map contains all the Market Towns in South Britain, and such Places in North Britain as are equivalent to them, every County in England is represented by two Members, and the Welch Counties by one apiece; All the Burroughs or Towns in Great Britain that have a Right to choose Members of Parliament are mark'd with one star or two, according to the number of Members elected by them; And whereas by the Union Act in 1707 divers alterations have been made in respect to the Representatives of the Shires and Royal Burghs of North Britain, which cannot well be distinguished in the Map, the words of the Act it self here follow. Thirty shall be chosen by the Shires or Steuatries, and Fifteen by the Royal Borrows, as follows, viz. One for every Shire and Steuarty, excepting the Shires of Bute and Cathness which shall choose one by turns, the Shires of Narin and Cromarty, which shall also choose by turns, and in like manner the Shires of Clackmanan and Kinros shall choose by turns, and that the said Fifteen Representatives for the Royal Borrows be chosen as follows, viz. That ye Town of Edinburg shall Elect one Member. The Burghs of Kirkwall, Week, Dornock, Dingwall and Taine, One; the Burghs of Fortrose, Inverness, Nairn and Forress, One; the Burghs of Elgin, Cullen, Banff, Inverury and Kintore, One; the Burghs of Aberdeen, Inverbervy, Montrose, Aberbrothock, and Brochine, One; the Burghs of Forfar, Perth, Dundee, Coupar, and St. Andrews, One; the Burghs Craill, Kilreenie, Anstruther Easter, Anstruther Wester, and Pittenweem; One; the Burghs of Dysart, Kirkaldie, Kinghern and Bruntisland, One; the Burghs of Innerkithen, Dunfermline, Queensferry, Culros and Sterling; One; the Burghs of Glasgow, Renfrew, Ruglen and Dumbartan, One; the Burghs of Haddington, Dunbarr, North Berwick, Lauder and Jedburgh, One; the Burghs of Selkirk, Peebles, Linlithgow and Lanerk, One; the Burghs of Dumfreies, Sanquhar, Annan, Lockmaben and Kirkeudbright, One; the Burghs of Wigtoun, New Galloway, Stranraver and Whitehorn, One; and the Burghs of Air, Irvin, Rothesay, Campletown and Inverary; One. The Islands of SCHETLAND
This Map contains all the Market Towns in South Britain, and such Places in
North Britain as are equivalent to them, every County in England is repre :
