Jugador histórico del baloncesto brasileño, posee el récord de medallas en mundiales, junto con los también brasileños Amaury Pasos y Ubiratan Pereira Maciel, los yugoslavos Dražen Dalipagić y Krešimir Ćosić y el soviético Serguéi Belov, con cuatro medallas cada uno.
