Tajinaste[1]​ es el nombre genérico que se le da en las Islas Canarias (España) a algunas especies, generalmente endémicas, del género Echium. El nombre proviene del idioma guanche, (en Tamazight insular: ⵜⴰⵉⵏⴰⴵⵜ, tainast, palabra femenina que significa 'aguja')[2]​ y que perdura hasta nuestro tiempo. La gran acumulación de tajinastes formando un "bosque" se conoce como tajinastal.
