De Wikipedia, la enciclopedia libre

Suristan es un nombre utilizado en el imperio persa sasánida 226 to 651 AD, para referirse a una región y una ciudad.

Por una parte era la designación de la provincia persa de Surestan, aproximadamente en lo que es Siria en la actualidad, que no debe confundirse con Asuristan, que era una provincia distinta de Babilonia (en lo que actualmente es el sur y centro de Irak).

Por la otra parte era también el nombre de la ciudad sasánida de Surestan (actualmente Kufa en Irak), situada en la provincia persa de Bih-Kavad Media.
