English: Temporary narrow-gauge railway at Gallo-Roman Amphitheatre at Saintes: The year is 1907, and work is underway to clear the site to reveal what lies beneath. A temporary narrow-gauge railway (probably 600 mm) has been installed. Spoil is being removed in V-tipper wagons via a rope-worked incline.
