El alfabeto etíope es un alfasilabario donde cada símbolo corresponde a una combinación vocal + consonante, es decir, hay un símbolo básico al cual se añaden símbolos para marcar la vocal. Las modificaciones de la letra ኀ (ḫarm) son las siguientes:
