West Los Angeles College (also called West L.A. College or WLAC) is a two-year, public community college in the western Baldwin Hills, adjacent to Culver City in Los Angeles County, California.[2] The college uses a Culver City address.

WLAC is a part of the California Community Colleges System, in the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). It is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.[3] The school offers Associate's degrees, and 18 vocational-oriented programs in addition to 25 transfer programs. The college awards more than 600 degrees and certificates annually in 39 fields.

Beginning in the fall of 2016, WLAC became one of only 15 community colleges in the State of California approved to offer a bachelor's degree. The bachelor's degree given at WLAC is in Dental Hygiene.

Thank you for your interest in West Los Angeles College. In the next few minutes, you’ll get a fast overview of how to get started and a walk through on how to complete the online application. First, congratulations Your decision to go to college can improve your understanding of the world, Your professional opportunities, your earning potential and much more. Your journey begins with the application and on-boarding steps Here’s a typical timeline - Create your California Community College account online, then submit the College application Within 48 hours, you’ll receive a CCC confirmation via email. In 3 to 5 days, you’ll receive an email from the college with your college email address and instructions to log on to the Student Portal to get your registration date. Now you can start the Expressway. View the 30 minute online orientation and make your appointment for Assessment and Counseling. While you wait for your student ID, it’s a good idea to view the sample test and start the FAFSA form for Financial Aid. Immediately after you take the assessment, you’ll meet with a counselor and receive an education plan with recommendations for which classes to take. If time allows, you can register for the classes right then. Or, you can enroll in classes online at a later time. By the way, if you don’t have a computer at home or at work, you can use one in the Learning Center of the Library. There are also staff there who can assist you. On that same day, you can also get a student ID card, buy your books and parking pass, and pay fees. Or you can wait until a later time. Important Note: You cannot register for classes until on or after your registration date. At the end of the video, I’ll tell you more about the Assessment test. Also, I’ll explain under what circumstances you can enroll in classes prior to or without completing Assessment and counseling. Now that you’re familiar with the steps, let’s start your application. Click apply on the home page. Read the important information, then click the big blue button. Before you start the college application, you’ll create a California Community College account. When you’ve finished this step, you’ll get a confirmation screen. But you’re NOT done yet – click the blue button and start the West LA College application. Provide the information requested. It is not necessary to have a social security number to apply. If you don’t have one, click the box that says you don’t have one. Be sure to SAVE the email address, user name and password you use. YOU WILL NEED THEM LATER. When you’ve finished the application, click the blue button and expect another confirmation page. SAVE THIS PAGE. Within 48 hours, you’ll receive an email with your CCC ID number. Within 3 to 5 days, you’ll receive another email with your Student ID number, student email address, and instructions for next steps. You’ve completed the application Time for Expressway and Registering for classes. Questions. What if I didn’t get my confirmation email? How do I log onto the student portal The assessment test – What is it? Can I skip it? What if I didn’t get the email with my ID number and student email? Be sure at least 5 days have passed since you submitted your application. Check the junk folder in your email. If you still don’t have the email, visit the Admissions office. Bring the confirmation information you received when you submitted your application. How do I log on to the student portal for the first time? And how can I see my registration date? Click Register on the home page Click Student Portal Enter the “User ID” which is your Student ID number For the password, you will enter a temporary password which is 88 @ symbol The first letter of your last name – capitalized Followed by the month and day of your birthday So, if your birthday is on July 4th, the number would be 0704 On the next screen, you will be asked to enter the TEMPORARY password as your OLD password Next, you will need to create your challenge questions in the event that you forget your password and need to reset it Log into the challenge question registration by using your student ID and the new password you just created Choose the questions and answer them Now you can login to your LACCD SIS account with your user ID and new password To see your registration date once you’re in the portal, Roll over the Academics Menu Then select “Reg Date and Deadlines” What’s the assessment test? The assessment test determines your proficiency level in English and Math. This will impact into which classes you can enroll including in English and Math which are required for most degrees and to transfer. They can also be prerequisites for classes in other subjects. Can I prepare for the Assessment test? Yes. Visit the Expressway site for information on how to prepare or to enroll in a free prep class at West Can I enroll in classes before Orientation and Assessment? Or, Can I skip those steps if I’ve done them at another college or I only want to take one or two classes? Yes. You can enroll in a course without completing assessment if the course has no prerequisites or if you can demonstrate that you’ve meet the prerequisite at another school. However, all students are strongly encouraged to complete the full Expressway to maintain a high registration priority date for future semesters and to avoid wasting time and money selecting classes they don’t need.
