Wada Station is served by the Ōu Main Line, and is located 285.4 km (177.3 mi) from the starting point of the line at Fukushima Station.

Station layout

The station has two opposed side platforms, connected to the station building by a footbridge. The station is staffed. Akita Shinkansen trains run through this station, using the tracks adjacent to Platform 1.

History

Wada Station opened on October 1, 1903 as a station on the Japanese Government Railways (JGR).[1] The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of JNR on April 1, 1987.[1] A new station building was completed in February 2003.[citation needed]

In fiscal 2018, the station was used by an average of 331 passengers daily (boarding passengers only).[2]
