The University Law College, Quetta (Urdu: یونیورسٹی لا کالج) is one of the oldest law schools of Pakistan, situated in Quetta, Balochistan. The college has produced numerous notables including Chief Justices of Pakistan, Chief Justices of Federal Shariat Court, Chief Ministers of Balochistan, Federal Ministers, and many judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and Balochistan High Court.[2]

Until 1970, Balochistan lacked an institution for legal education. However, the University Law College Quetta was established in 1971 alongside the emergence of Balochistan as a province and the founding of the University of Balochistan. Notable figures such as Mr. Justice Munawar Ahmed Mirza, Barrister Yahya Bakhtiar, Mr. Justice (Retired) Dorab Patel, Mr. Justice (Retired) Mir Khuda Bakhsh Marri, and Prof. Mir Muhammad Khan Raisani played pivotal roles in its establishment. Former Attorney-General for Pakistan, Barrister Yahya Bakhtiar served as first principal of the college. [3]

Initially, the college operated from the premises of the civil court in Quetta before relocating to the building of the Government Science College Quetta under the leadership of Prof. Mir Muhammad Raisani, who served as the Principal from 1976 to 1990. Subsequently, the present college building was constructed on a spacious plot acquired from the Ministry of Defense through the Quetta Cantonment Authorities.

Since its inception, the college has facilitated legal education for the citizens of Balochistan. The first batch of law graduates completed their studies in 1972, marking the beginning of uninterrupted academic progress. To date, over four thousand individuals have earned their LL.B. degrees from the college, with a significant portion becoming practicing lawyers at the Balochistan Bar. Additionally, many alumni have pursued diverse career paths outside the legal profession.
