Trigger Point is an upcoming Canadian action-thriller film directed by Brad Turner and written by Michael Vickerman. It stars Barry Pepper as a special operative who lives in hiding after his team members were assassinated, and who returns to the organization to clear his name and prevent a new assassination spree. Eve Harlow, Carlo Rota, Laura Vandervoort, Jayne Eastwood, Nazneen Contractor, Greg Bryk, Rainbow Sun Francks, and Colm Feore also star.

Filmed in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the project will be theatrically released in the United States and Canada by Screen Media Films and digitally worldwide on Crackle on April 23, 2021. Producers have mentioned the potential of a trilogy.

Premise

Nicolas Shaw (Barry Pepper) is a retired U.S. special operative who becomes part of an elite "invisible" team that quietly takes out the worst villains around the world. After being blamed for the assassination of fellow team members, Shaw must clear his name and prevent the killing of a new generation of noble operatives.

Cast

Production

Trigger Point was originally going to begin production in early 2020, but filming was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[1] On October 13, 2020, it was announced that Barry Pepper and Colm Feore had joined the cast of the film.[2] Principal photography for the project began on October 26, 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, and concluded after filming for fifteen days in Huron County and Bayfield, Ontario, becoming the first major motion picture to be shot in Bayfield.[3][4]

Possible sequels

Director Brad Turner told the Clinton News-Record that Trigger Point could potentially serve as the first film in a trilogy. In a statement, Turner said that "It's possible it is a trilogy. It was written as a beginning of a series of movies and so far the concept is for two more, but it could easily go on for a few more depending on the success of it."[1] On CTV News, executive producer Eric Birnberg said that the trilogy could be similar to the John Wick franchise with the use of "common elements".[3]
