He played for Sunderland, Hetton, Middlesbrough, Southport, Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers, Luton Town, Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic, Reading and Torquay United.[2]

When Tommy joined Reading, £200 of his fee was provided by the supporters club.
