The Edge of Sleep

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Edge of Sleep is a thriller podcast written by Jake Emanuel and Willie Block. It is produced by QCode and stars Mark Fischbach, known online as "Markiplier".

Background

The show is produced by QCode and stars Mark Fischbach.[1] The first season debuted on September 24, 2019, and ended on November 5, 2019.[2][3] The supporting cast included Alex Essoe, Cara Santana, Victor Rasuk, Marcia Cross, Pat Healy, Michael Yama, Chris Mulkey and Rob Morrow. The first season consisted of eight episodes with an average length of 25 minutes each.[3] The show follows a night watchman named Dave Torres who attempts to survive a mysterious global crisis where anyone who goes to sleep dies.[4][5] The show has a similar premise to Invasion of the Body Snatchers.[5]

In April 2022, a second season of the podcast was announced with an expected release sometime that following year.[4] In May 2023, while announcing the novelization of the podcast's first season, writer Willie Block said they "hope to record" the second season later that year.[citation needed]

Adaptations

Television series (TBA)

In April 2021, QCode partnered with New Regency to adapt The Edge of Sleep into a television series.[6] The show was filmed in Vancouver in the summer of 2021 and is set to be released sometime in the future.[7] Fischbach reprises his role as Dave and is the only cast member to return from the podcast, with the rest of the cast including Lio Tipton, Franz Drameh, Eve Harlow, Trezzo Mahoro, Patti Allan, Rolando Davila-Beltran, and Braden Overwater.[citation needed]

In May 2023, show writer Willie Block said "there's a TV-series we shot up in Canada that we hope we can bring you soon." No release date has been announced as of June 2024.[citation needed]

Novelization (2023)

In June 2023, a novelization titled The Edge of Sleep: A Novel was published, written by Jake Emanuel, Willie Block, and James Gurley, which expands on the universe of the podcast with new characters and perspectives.[citation needed]
