ROTARY CONNECTION-"I AM THE BLACK GOLD OF THE SUN" (1971)
Transcription
The morning is dead And the day is, too Nothing here to greet me But the velvet moon All my loneliness I have felt today It's a little more than enough To make a man throw himself away And I continue To burn the midnight lamp All alone... Your smiling portrait on my frowning wall Really doesn't bother me, bother me at all It's just the falling dust That really makes it hard for me to see Forgotten earring lying on the floor Facing coldly towards the door And I continue To burn the midnight lamp All alone... The morning is dead And the day is, too Nothing here to greet me But the velvet moon All my loneliness I have felt today It's like a little more than enough To make a man throw himself away And I continue To burn the midnight lamp All alone...
Covers
Rotary Connection covered artists such as Cream, The Band, Otis Redding, Muddy Waters, The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix on the album.[3] The album is also noted for including a song written for the band by Stevie Wonder, titled "This Town." The song was the very first one written by the then-18-year-old Wonder for a non-Motown artist, and would be performed by him in live concerts.
