The Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas or the SWP (formerly known as the Philippine Weightlifting Association)[1] is the national governing body for weightlifting and powerlifting in the Philippines. The president of the SWP since October 2016 is Monico Puentevella.[2]

On June 11, Cebu City hosted the 2024 National Weightlifting Championships at the SM Seaside City, its second hosting since 2018. Monico Puentevella led the opening ceremony with 300 weightlifters to contest 36 weight categories guided by Olympic coaches Ramón Solis and Christopher Bureros. Sponsored by International Container Terminal Services, the event will run until June 16. Acting Mayor Raymond Alvin N. Garcia, Cebu City Sports Commission Chairman John Pages, Dondon Hontiveros, Hidilyn Diaz, Vanessa Sarno, John Ceniza, Nestor Colonia and Elreen Ando graced the historic event.[3][4]
