Rudolf Steiner University College (Norwegian: Rudolf Steinerhøyskolen; RSH) is a state-accredited and state-funded private university college in Oslo, Norway.

Rudolf Steiner University College, Oslo

It was founded in 1981 and is recognised under the Law for Private University Colleges and is fully state-funded (state funding increased gradually from 50% in 1983 to 100% from 1997 onwards). The university college offers bachelor's degrees in Waldorf education for teachers and kindergarten teachers, a master's degree in Waldorf education, and various other courses.[1][2] It is organised as a non-profit foundation, and its board of trustees is chaired by Cato Schiøtz.[3]

In cooperation with the Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences (Germany), the university college publishes the international academic journal Research on Steiner Education.[4] It is also involved in cooperation with East European countries, hosting the International Waldorf Summer Seminar.[5]

Since 1994, the former Berle School in Professor Dahls gate 30, Frogner, has served as its main building.[6] The college also has a campus in Fyresdal.

Transcription

[Philip Shinton, Class Teacher] The Edinburgh Steiner School offers parents a real choice. Something different in education from other schools in Edinburgh. We really educate the whole child and we have a creative approach through our curriculum that prepares the children for the 21st Century. [Carolyn Grohmann, Parent] It's just a fantastic education. It's a beautiful education. Everything they do is well thought through. It's part of a curriculum that starts at three and half and goes all the way to 18 and they cover everything. They cover Science, Art, the environment. Everything that you want your children to learn about and it's an amazing education. I wish I had been to a Steiner School. [Bruce Houldsworth, Class Teacher] We get them to learn in a way that is natural so that it remains fun and it remains enjoyable. When we do Maths we use a lot of games and rhythms to keep Maths an enjoyable process that meets the child where they are. It's a lot friendlier here and everyone's closer together. It's much easier to understand here and the teachers are more friendly and it's just nicer to be here. I think that it's got a clear philosophy that looks at the child academically and emotionally. [David Cumming, Parent] It doesn't kill off creativity early by pushing process at the child too early. It's got a global perspective. It teaches languages early so I think, in an international world, going to Steiner will see the child in good stead. For me, going to school was always enjoyable. I can't remember a day when I didn't want to go to school. [Philip Shinton, Class Teacher] We try to give the pupils here a view of the world, that is a unified whole so that they are involved in many different activities. They learn in many different ways. They learn through using their hands. They learn though expressing themselves artistically as well as learning to think through and be able to discuss and delve into questions using the powers of thinking. I first stated the Steiner School in February this year. In my old school you'd learn something and you'd forget about it in like a day, and here you just take it all in and you won't forget a single thing.
