Transcription

We leave Ledigos Early in the morning. The day is cold. It is our last sunrise in the province of Palencia. Today we will arrive to León lands. We will Pass by Sahagún, the geographical center of the Camino. We will visit “adobe and tapial” villages Bercianos del Real Camino will be the end of the stage and Santa Clara our hostel. The Camino arrives immediately to Terradillos de los Templarios. The original Camino did not passed directly by the population but by its municipal term, through two missing villages, San Juan de el Camino and Villaoreja. After a short ride we will arrive to Moratinos. We can appreciate that the mud is widely used in most of their constructions. In this area of Palencia, it is very common to find small wineries, dug out in the mountains. Moratinos, San Nicolas del Real Camino and huge cereal fields are the last thing we will enjoy in Palencia. With this milestone we officially says goodbye to Palencia. Welcome to Leon...! We cross a medieval bridge over the Valderaduey river to visit the Virgen del Puente Hermitage, from the 12th century. Next to the Hermitage, and at the gates of Sahagún, this sculpture creates a symbolic line which marks the geographical center of the Camino Sahagún was consolidated in the 11th century with the arrival of the Order of Cluny and the privileges granted by Alfonso VI. We can underline the Arc From the ruins of the monastery of St. Benedict. We visited the churches of San Lorenzo, San Tirso and the sanctuary of the Peregrina, that we can now see. In Sahagun, we can emphasize the Tower of the San Lorenzo Church. Finally, the Church of San Tirso. All of them declared of Cultural interest and all of Mudejar-romanic style, made in brick not in stone ashlars. We move away from Sahagun by the bridge over the Cea river . in 10 km we'll be in Bercianos del Real Camino. In the Road to Bercianos we will see seasonal lagoons and will visit the nuestra señora del Perales Hermitage, from the 17TH century. We are in Bercianos del Real Camino. Its name recalls that it is a repopulated town with original Bierzo inhabitants. Bercianos is a small town built amost totally in adobe and tapial. And today, as an exception, I will highlight the Santa Clara hostel. You will feel at home. And you will always find a smile. They Have expanded the hostel with new bedrooms, new bathrooms and new kitchen. The owners are the same. In the morning I met his goat. It’s wonderfull to wake up in a place like this. I continued my Camino with a big smile. Bercianos del Real Camino She is an angel and the hostel her dream.
