Lake

Rgotsko Lake is located in the municipality of Zaječar, southeast of the village of Rgotina. Rgotsko Lake was formed in 1978 when water began to fill the surface mine of sand mines. Miners had to leave the mine, from which they had been exploiting sand for over 70 years. The water level is relatively stable, although water flows out of the lake through small streams. The lake only receives water from its source at the bottom of the mine. The surface area of the lake is 3 hectares, and the maximum depth reaches up to 40 meters. Thanks to the presence of quartz sand, the water is quite clear and easily warms up. Because of this, Rgotsko Lake is one of the cleanest lakes in Europe, with an optimal water temperature. There is no organized beach on the shores of the lake, but this does not affect the popularity of this ideal place for all swimmers.
