From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pug Hill is a grassy knoll located just to the northwest of the Alice in Wonderland Statue in Central Park.

Pug Hill was a popular place for pug owners in New York City to socialize in the late 1990s through the mid-2000s.[1] At times, there were so many pugs present that they were described as a fawn and black whirlpool moving through the grass.[2] However, by the mid-2000s, New York City Department of Parks and Recreation Enforcement began aggressively issuing tickets to off-leash dogs outside early morning and late night hours, effectively ending Pug Hill gatherings.[3]

In 2006, Pug Hill was the inspiration for an eponymous book.[4]
