My friends, our next guest is a singer and I could say also an actor, Václav Noid Bárta. Thank you. Now, when I see you, my poor memory tells me something. Václav, weren´t you playing something in Petr´s film "Kajínek"? Yes, I had the honour. - Was it a honour for you? - Huge honour. - What exactly were you playing in it? - I played Kajínek´s fellow prisoner. I don´t know why Petr picked me for this. So, my character was helping the lead to plan both of his jailbreaks. I can remeber now. So, did you won a casting, or this director already knew he wants you? Well, it was... I didn´t ask you. Coincidentally, I was living with Petr´s sister at the time. So, I was very well informed about all the casting dates and I sneaked in thanks to it. I see. Thanks to his sister. Exactly. But why Petr decided to cast me, that he must tell you himself. He shouldn´t bother. Clearly there was no casting at all. I believe it was actually much harder than normal casting would have been. It was obviously a shameless case of nepotism. On top of that, he also made the music. - What music? - For that film. - It was his condition. - I don´t ask you anymore. No. Petr´s sister now dates someone else. She is already married. So, you became a film composer just like that. It was your first film, but probably not last. You have a several professions. You are a singer, musical actor, composer... Is the composing your favorite? The composing of film music was my childhood dream. It became true. I would like to continue in it, but there is not so much opportunities. So, meanwhile, I do music for another singers and sometimes for myself, so I would say the composing is on the third place among things I am currently doing. The second is the musical acting and singing is first, of course. No wonder, because as far as I know, you are from a musically oriented family, aren´t you? Your father, and I´m not sure if also your mother are... My mother is a singer and my father is a musical director and lyricist. Musical family then. I believe that also your siblings..? - We are all affected by it. - How many siblings do you have? Well, according to my dad´s latest calculations, I believe about seven? Latest? The latest figures speak about seven. - I don´t understand. - I must update the research. - Are they still gaining? - Yes. Are they new-borns, or...? They keep popping up from time to time. For example, when i was doing some CD 3 years ago with my father as lyricist, he said "It´s very good. By the way, you have a sister in České Budějovice." I said "Really? How old is she, approximately?" He said "The same as you, I guess." "Really? Daddy..." "Well, maybe she´s bit older." Then he said she´s a violin player, so we asked her to play on the CD. She did. Brilliant. Is seven the final number? Now we are seeking for a drummer. Your daddy just keeps mentioning... "There is another one." That´s cute. He takes it easy. - Why he shouldn´t? He´s a bohemian, isn´t he? - He definitely is. Exactly. I understand it very well. You are a rocker, aren´t you? Well, I started with a rock music years ago, but I don´t really think that I am rocker in the right sense. I was actually growning up with a folklore music, because that was what my parents were doing. In the course of time, I tried various music styles. Pop, rap, film music... I can enjoy a wide spectrum of music. I see. But nowadays, you are one of the busiest Czech musical actors. So tell me, as an ex-rocker, did you struggle with it? That you must play, speak and dance on the stage? Did you have some coach for all this, or were you learning all that continually? My first musical was Excalibur by Michal Pavlíček. Vilém Čok and Kamil Střihavka were in it too... - All of them rockers. - So, there was no dancing, it was very rock-ish. There was no need to teach me anything special, I was throwed in, learning everything by doing it. After that, I was in some more traditional musicals, but it´s fun. I enjoy it. With a good bunch of people, it´s like a child play with some drinking after the show. It´s fine. Well, I don´t really drink that much anymore, but I did and it was great. Well, as your fans already know, you are quite settled down now, after that phase of seeking... with his sister, for example... ...eventually, you found the right one, poetically speaking, and you have a child with her. How that change a rocker´s life? Do you run home more quickly after the show? Very much. Everybody kept telling me how much it will change me, that I will stop doing all the nonsense and I will be thinking only about what is best for the child, I didn´t believe them. But they were right. And it´s beautiful, it´s a meaning of life. I play in the theatre to gain money for my family, so it´s a great motivation, I enjoy it much more now, because now it makes more sense. And after the show, I am going right home, enjoying my family. - How old is your child? - Three months. She´s little. - So, you are probably helping with her. - I try my best. Tomáš Klus was here not long ago, saying the same. - Was he also that softened? - Even more than you, to be honest. He said how it inspires him. Is it inspiration for you too? It is. But I must admit - and I am little bit ashamed of it - that I am constantly talking in plural now. Saying "we are pooping", "we are burping" etc. - Telling it to who? - To everybody. - I see. "We are pooping and burping". - Exactly. That skillful we are. And I am constantly lisping, so I am not a rocker anymore. - Be careful on the stage then. - Yes. That would be interesting. - Do you still play Robin Hood? - Not anymore. Now I am in The Addams Family. It´s a new musical in Karlín theatre and I am playing Lurch, the butler in it. Václav, you are also active sportsman, aren´t you? I do thai box for last three years. It´s a great thing after the constant playing of romantic heroes and running over stage in tights... Because, let me say this - musicals are only for rough guys. It´s a though profession. So, after all this, I am relaxing doing thai box. Were you on tatami with Petr? Once we were fishing together. I know he´s doing judo. But wouldn´t it be interesting? I don´t think so. It´s quite obvious who would win. What are you doing? Kick-box? Oh yes, thai box. So, you could kick him, couldn´t you? - I wouldn´t be so sure. - You couldn´t kick up that high? - Take it as an inspiration. Once you both will have some time to spare... - ...then you will kick me off. - And you will try the anaconda choke on me. So, you are fishing together? We were fishing, indeed. - So you both like fishing? - That´s our hobby, yes. What did you catch? Mind your language, please. We actually... should I say it? We were actually fishing with Jakub Vágner (Czech reality tv fisherman), there was a bet between us. We had Petr´s poor punt with eighty holes in it, It was peeling off, water everywhere inside, we were fishing with two tiny sticks, it was terrible. And a bottle of rum, indeed. Just the basic fishing equipment, while Jakub Vágner was sailing on a huge yacht with multiplicators everywhere, also with echolocators and many other -tors in it, and we dared to bet with him who will catch the first catfish. And we did. On top of that, Vágner had a girlfriend with him, while we had only my male friend from a village. That´s true, he was our mascot. And for how long you caught the catfish? - We were fishing over night and... - I caught the fish. OK, but you didn´t have to say that. "We were fishing," he said. "We are pooping, we are pissing..." But I caught the catfish. Václav, I must ask you one more thing. As you told me last time, you were trained as butcher. Do you think that in case of need, you should open a little butchery and make your music after hours? Hard to say. I was actually on a pig slaughter yesterday, at my wife parents´place in Strakonice. - You killed that pig? - That´s my wife´s grandpa´s job. He has experience. They actually asked me for some help with breaking it down, I said I can´t do it. And they were like "Aren´t you butcher?". I tried to explain that all I can do is the mopping, not breaking down the pig or anything like that. - The mopping? - The only thing they let you do in that school is to mop the floor. - So after the pig slaughter, you mopped the floor. But brilliantly. They asked me to come again to mop it. - So, now you are in the Karlín theatre, right? - Right. - Everything you are in is there? - Yes. Aida, Lucie, the re-run of Carmen, Jesus Christ Superstar, Mammzelle Nitouche, The Addams Family. Weren´t you considering your own musical, as a composer? I did a musical called Němcová, it was too underground I´m afraid, for Ta Fantastika theater. We were running it for a year, which I see as a success considering how depressive thing it was. Would you like to do some more? Do you have some ideas for another one? Of course. You know, as a composer one can fulfill oneself either by composing for films, if we are speaking about the bigger works, it´s either a film or the stage musical. - So, do you have something like that in mind? - I am collecting some ideas in my drawer.
