{bells ringing} {Russian male choir chanting} {Narrator} Since its foundation in 1948, Holy Trinity Orthodox seminary has trained generations of bishops, priests, and leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad. These young men immersed themselves in the ascetic spirit of the Jordanville monastery and learned at the feet of true scholars: Archbishop Averky of Syracuse, Archpriest Michael Pomazansky Professors Alexandrov, Talberg, Kontsevich, Andreev - pastors and teachers whose erudition was matched by their abiding faith in the Risen Lord and His Church. Formed in this atmosphere, the seminary graduate is sent out to the ends of the earth to follow Christ's Great Commission. {Metropolitan Jonah} We have a common task. And that common task is to spread the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, to spread the good news of repentance and forgiveness of sins, the good news of the knowledge of God, the good news of God's infinite love Who forgives all our sins Who draws us to himself and Who shares His own divine life with us. This is the life of the Church. This is that life which Jesus Christ through His Holy Apostles and through their successors, the bishops and the priests and the deacons and all of the faithful have passed down from generation to generation. {Narrator} While this shared mission remains eternally unchanged, the Church today faces new and growing challenges which require an answer from deep within Tradition. {Dr Permiakov} Holy Trinity Seminary Press is an academic endeavor of Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary seeking to educate future pastors in the tradition of Russian Orthodoxy. We are also seeking to publish studies which explore, investigate, examine the Tradition of the Orthodox Church using scholarly methodology based on a solid academic foundation. {Archimandrite Luke} In many ways we are searching for a text for each subject that would be available in English that conveys a traditional Orthodox worldview worldview that initially was the foundation of Holy Trinity Seminary. We need to prepare and offer the students good texts in Pastoral Theology, in Patristics, in Dogmatic Theology, studying the New and the Old Testament, that would convey and support our worldview. {N Chapman} We have to extend our mission to try to publish something for the Academy, if you like the the world of higher education which is shaping ideas. But there has to be books which are there for an academic audience, which are actually faithful to the Tradition and preferably come from people from within that tradition. A tendency in modern academia perhaps is to make your name by disproving something else and destroying something and then creating some new paradigm for the future. And of course the whole ethos of Orthodoxy is that we are given something by God in Christ and we have to keep this as St Athanasius said and to faithfully explicate that tradition, if you like, to different generations. {Russian male choir chanting}
