Michael Robert Hill[1] is a Labour Party politician, and the MP for Hartlepool since the 2017 snap election.[2] He was born in Heywood in Lancashire[3] in 1963.[4] He has a degree in Drama and English Literature from the University of Lancaster and has worked in local authority libraries and as a trade union official.

Until being elected to Parliament in 2017, he was the Political Officer for UNISON Northern Region and Vice Chair of Labour North.

In June 2018, Hill pledged to not report potential illegal immigrants in his constituency to the Home Office.[5]
