Martin Luther King Jr. is a public sculpture by American artist John Woodrow Wilson located at the United States Capitol rotunda in Washington, D.C., United States.

Description

The bust depicts Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a contemplative and peaceful mood, looking slightly downward, patinated to match the black marble base.[1]

Artist

John Woodrow Wilson, born in 1922 in Roxbury, Massachusetts. He graduated from Tufts University in 1947. He was professor of art at Boston University from 1964 to 1986.[1]

Information

The bust was unveiled in the Rotunda, on January 16, 1986, by Coretta Scott King, their four children and Christine King Farris.[1]
