The Marshall ShredMaster (also known as the Shred Master) is a distortion pedal which is manufactured by Marshall Amps.
It is the high-gain pedal of a triad, also including the Marshall DriveMaster and the Marshall BluesBreaker.[1] Each effects pedal is defined to imitate the sound of a particular Marshall Amplifier. The Shredmaster and the other pedals in this series made their debut in 1991, but production was discontinued one year afterwards in 1992.[2] The Shredmaster has a lot in common with the Guv’nor pedal, and in fact the first half of both circuits are nearly identical. However, the Shredmaster has an additional gain recovery stage, and even though the three tone knobs appear to be the same on the outside, the tone stack is very different.[3][4]
The series was reissued by Marshall in 2023.[5]
The pedal is powered by 9V battery or external power supply.
Controls
The ShredMaster has five knobs, which are, from left to right:
- Gain – controls intensity of the drive
- Bass – controls lower frequencies
- Contour – controls mid frequencies
- Treble – controls high-end response
- Volume – controls overall volume level
