Malka Beer

Founded2006
HeadquartersYehiam

Malka Beer (בירה מלכה Lit. Queen Beer) is an Israeli boutique brewery. Produced since 2006 by Malka Beer Ltd., in its early years, the brewery operated in Moshav Amka, in 2008 the brewery moved to operate in Kibbutz Yehiam, and in 2018 production moved to an upgraded and sophisticated brewery in the Tefen industrial area. The water used for brewing the beer is mostly drawn from the springs of Ga'aton River nearby. The brewery's founder and first CEO is Asaf Lavi, a resident of Klil in the Western Galilee.[1][2][3]

The company offers guided tours in the new brewery in Tefen and operates a visitor center and pub overlooking the brewery's activity called "Malka's Salon". In addition to the brewery itself, Malka Beer also operates a beer yard in Kibutz Yehiam named - "Malka Yard".

Malka Beer is among the first two boutique breweries in Israel, and it is also considered one of the prominent boutique beer brands in the market. In 2011, an agreement was signed for the distribution of the beer, between "Malka Beer" and "Kerem Company - Spirits", with the aim of distributing the beer in restaurants and marketing chains, beyond sales in alcohol stores and bars. In 2014, Kerem Company purchased 40% of Malka Brewery. Kerem paid 4.8 million shekels for 40% of Malka Beer, reflecting a value of about 12 million shekels for Malka Beer. In 2018, following the acquisition of Negev Beer by Kerem Company, Malka Brewery also began producing this brand. In 2020, the brewery started producing the Israeli beer brand "Herzl" as well.[4][5]

Malka's Yard

Malka's Yard, located in Kibbutz Yehiam and existing since 2012, is a kind of beer garden. In the past, it was the yard of the brewery itself, which operated in the kibbutz until 2018, but even after the production moved to Tefen, the yard continues to operate on weekends.[6][7][8]

Malka's Salon

Malka's Salon is the official pub/visitor center of Malka Beer, located in the industrial area of Tefen. The salon, which is on the second floor of the brewery - overlooks the brewery's operations, and guests can see the fermentation tanks and the brewery's bottling line. Malka's Salon was officially opened towards the end of 2019 and also houses the brewery's official store.[9][10]
