History and profile

In its online version, the Middle East Report is made available in a mixed access mode, with some open access articles and others requiring a paid subscription. The subscription covers both online and print editions.[2]

Opinions

The magazine is consistently critical of Israel, Zionism,[3] and the foreign relations of the United States in the Middle East. In 1998, the editor wrote:

US foreign policy exacerbates the disastrous state of affairs in the contemporary Middle East. Although the political contours of the world have changed radically since the collapse of the USSR and the Gulf War of 1991, US goals in the region have remained remarkably consistent: to control the flow of oil, to prevent the growth of Arab nationalist and leftist movements and to protect Israel.[4]

Staff

Until 1995, Joe Stork was editor-in-chief.[5] The magazine's current executive editor is Katie Natanel and its managing editor is Marya Hannun.[6]
