  2. ^ Pacquiao, a professional boxer, is a non-participant in the Olympic Games.
  3. ^ EJ Obiena was originally chosen, but he was replaced due to the introduction of a new protocol requiring flagbearers to be in Tokyo 48 hours prior to the opening ceremony. Obiena is scheduled to arrived on 23 July, on the very day of the opening ceremony itself.[11][12]
