Lhaimagu Faqeeraa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lhaimagu Faqeeraa (Dhivehi: ޅައިމަގު ފަގީރާ) is a mystic most famously mentioned in the folklore of Dhonhiyala aai Alifulhu (Dhivehi: ދޮންހިޔަލަ އާއި އަލިފުޅު).[1] He is supposed to have lived in Lhaimagu island, in the Maldives. According to the story, he saw a vision of a faiymini (a woman with exceptional beauty) being born in Burunee island. He then travelled to Burunee to confirm this and informed the king about the faiymini.

The word faqeeraa comes from the word fakir, which is a Sufi, especially one who performs feats of endurance or apparent magic. [2]
