Transcription

Giving back is in our DNA, it's who we are. It's what we're about it is our corporate responsibility to give back to every community we operate in. To make it better than when we found it Lamar is about visionary leadership that means on the commercial side and also on the giving back side we have a lot of capabilities as a company to do really great things. On any given day in hundreds of communities across the country literally thousands of nonprofit public service ad be up and as we serve them we serve the community as well With our digital units we can get messages up that really help people in need. whether they're a set by hurricanes by tornadoes. We instantly work with relief organizations and first responders to get the word out. We use our digital billboards to hunt down fugitives We also work with Amber Alert to find lost children. If something needs to happen quickly in law enforcement or lost persons our digital boards do the trick and we love donating to that cause Most my work involves how we can employ science and technology to become more Efficient as a company and do that sustainably. We put up about seven thousand solar pannels and seven thousand LED lights in Louisiana and Florida. On each of those outdoor structures that we incorporate solar on we totally eliminate our impact on the grid We try and incorporate wind where we can, predominantly in West Texas The wind turbines have great output, there easy to mount on our structures. The technology that you employ to do that, is paid for by the money you save incorporating it. Most of our recycling now involves a number of different strategies were employing to deal with those materials. They are either ground-up into new materials or re-purposed into other goods We were introduced to Alec at RareForm, a couple of years ago and Rareform produces the best surfboard bags in the industry. They embody a lot of the core values that we have they understand giving back they understand a responsibility to the environment I can't really think of a better fit then the one between Lamar and Rareform We have built into our corporate culture this sense that everybody can give back to the community if you go across Lamar Land you will see that our employees are engaged at every level. First and foremost we treat each other and our customers with respect. We live by the golden rule, we treat others as we would like to be treated I was with Lamar for forty-two years giving back is a part of the lamar thinking process I think. Diane began to have some numbness on one side of her face They determined it was a type of tumor and we found a specialist in Nashville. Lamar stepped in big-time They provided Room and board board for us for the whole time that Diane was there. That's the kinda company Lamar is It's that family feel, they look after their employees We try to give back at evrey turn. We understand that you have a responsibility with the people that you touch and you have a greater responsibility to the world at large As my Father always said leave every place better than when you found it. That's the essence of giving back and that is who we are. We are a company that gives back.

History

Lamar Advertising Company was founded in 1902 by J.M. Coe and Charles W. Lamar. The Company became independent under its current name in 1908 in Pensacola, Florida, when Charles W. Lamar, Sr. and J.M. Coe decided to dissolve their three-year partnership using a coin toss to divide their assets. The Pensacola Opera House and the Pensacola Advertising Company that was created to promote it were to be divided between the two men. Charles W. Lamar lost the toss and was left with the less-lucrative poster company, which he renamed the Lamar Outdoor Advertising Company.[7]

The Pensacola Opera House was destroyed during Hurricane Four of the 1917 Atlantic hurricane season, with the Saenger Theatre later built on the site.[citation needed]

In October 2004, Lamar swapped assets in South Carolina and Georgia to Fairway Outdoor Advertising, in exchange for the Palm Springs, CA; Fayetteville, NC; Rocky Mount, NC; and New Bern, NC assets.[8] Later in November, Lamar acquired Obie Media Corporation of Eugene, Oregon, adding outdoor displays in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington; as well as handling transit advertising contracts in a few areas.[9]

In January 2016, Lamar purchased advertising rights in five major American markets from Clear Channel Outdoor for $458.5 million.[10]
