La Habana was a baseball team in the Cuban National Series from the 1977–78 season through the 2010–11 season.

Representing the former La Habana Province (Provincia de La Habana), the Vaqueros won their first ever National Series in 2008–09, and reached the National Series final against Santiago de Cuba in 2004–05.

La Habana had three pitchers on the Cuban team at the 2006 World Baseball Classic: Yulieski González, Jonder Martínez and Yadier Pedroso.

The team ceased operation in 2011, as La Habana province was divided in two new provinces, Artemisa and Mayabeque, with their respective baseball teams, Cazadores de Artemisa (Hunters) and Huracanes de Mayabeque (Hurricanes).

Ever since the time of our forefathers, baseball has been played here in Cuba. Cuban’s are passionate about baseball. Every child that is born, every father wants it to be a boy so he can play baseball. A boy is born and it means, baseball glove, bat and ball. We started playing 4skinas ever since we were kids, ever since we were like ten or 11 years old. It was the way we could play baseball, because we were very young and we could not play formal baseball, you know? You can play 4skinas anywhere, you only need a rubber ball and four players per team. 4skinas is a street game. It can be played in the street or any area. Here, in this place, we can play 4skinas. It’s a square with four bases. You bat with your hand. And walk all the bases. It makes me react better and have better reflexes because everything is tighter. No glove or bat are needed. There are no catchers. You don’t depend on a pitcher; you always bat. It is a very dynamic and tough game. We won the championship, the spectators, the people cheering for us. It was very exciting, very emotional, very big for us. We could not win but we felt good because it is something that we enjoy a lot, that makes us feel good. The same way we enjoy playing baseball and watching it, we enjoyed playing Red Bull 4skina. I would love to see that same passion that they put in 4skinas put into baseball.
