Kirkheaton is a village 3 miles (5 km) north east of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England with a population of 4,209 together with Upper Heaton.[citation needed] Historically, it is part of the West Riding of Yorkshire.The name Heaton comes from Old English "Heah" meaning high and "tun" meaning settlement along with Old Norse"Kirk" meaning church.

Kirkheaton has a primary school, Kirkheaton Primary School, which is situated on New Road.[1]
