The temple is maintained by people belonging to Vishwakarma (caste) and Vanniyar communities from Rajapalayam, Vasudevanalloor, Tenkasi, Sundarapandiapuram, and Surandai Vishwakarma. People from these towns meet together on every Sri Maha Shivarathri Pooja for their Kulatheiva (clan god).[citation needed]

The local people believe that this temple is powerful, solves their problems and helps them to achieve their needs and aims.[citation needed]
