Karahrud (Persian: كرهرود), also Romanized as Karahrūd and Karehrūd; also known as Kararūt and Qara Rūd,[3] was a city in the Central District of Arak County, Markazi province, Iran. It is the birthplace of Kurdish historian and prince of Bidlîs, Sharaf Khan Bidlisi (1543-ca. 1603).[4]

At the 2006 census, its population was 23,399 in 6,209 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 29,721 people in 8,782 households.[2]

In November 2013, Karahrud and the former city of Senjan were merged with the city of Arak. At the same time, Zamen Jan became the capital of Sedeh Rural District.[6]
