Early life and playing career

A native of Lizard Lick, North Carolina, Grizzard was a two-sport athlete at East Wake High School, where he played basketball and football. A two-way player who played quarterback and safety, he was his class' valedictorian, graduating with a 4.75 GPA.[1] He played college football at Yale from 2008 to 2011 before opting to switch to a student coaching position.

Coaching career

After graduating from Yale in 2012, Grizzard interned with the Carolina Panthers as an operations intern during their training camp.

Grizzard coached at Duke from 2013 to 2016 as a graduate assistant/quality control coach, working with the Blue Devil quarterbacks.[2]

Miami Dolphins

During his time with the Dolphins, Grizzard served as a quality control coach (2017-19, 2022-23) and wide receivers coach (2020-21). Grizzard has been a part of four consecutive winning seasons with the Dolphins, accomplishing the feat for the first time since the club did so in seven straight seasons from 1997-2003.

Grizzard contributed to an offense that finished the 2023 season ranked first in yards per game (401.3), passing yards per game (265.5), and yards per carry (5.1), while ranking second in yards per play (6.5), net yards per pass attempt (8.0), and points scored per game (29.2). During his time as Miami's Wide Receivers coach, Grizzard worked closely with Jaylen Waddle, who broke the NFL's then-rookie-receptions record in 2021 with 104; and a current Dolphins club rookie record of 1,015 receiving yards.[3]

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

On February 23, 2024, Grizzard was hired as Pass Game Coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.[4]
