SIMULATION IS GOING TO BE PUNISHED IT´S A BUSINESS BYE SPORT JIRI SIOSTRZONEK/SOCIOLOGIST I believe in essential experience from winning, success etc. However I believe that more and more prevails something else. I even don´t want to name it, everyone has to reason it himself. Nevertheless, I still have that bitter feeling that sport has changed his original form and moved into the bussines sphere. So I think that that´s not right. ROBERT ZARUBA/COMMENTATOR OF CZECH TV Sports has become professional. Today sport is a proffesion, and not just fun as it used to be. And we´re always glad, when during the performance of that profession, when you watch it or when it´s being presented a moment occures when you can see the joy again. When it suddenly comes back to the good old days when real champions used to get a salary not much higher than was the average. JAN HRUSKA/COACH OF YOUTH I think that there are sportsmen who have been doing thein sport for twenty years on the world class level and still are able to enjoy it. For example Jaromir Jagr. But the rest take the sport as a job not different from the others. And in my opinion there is just few people in the world who do the job they like. So, the happiness or experience is set a side. Todays society setting is oriented towards performance, success, power, money and people are responsive to it. It means, they know that this is the aim they want to acchieve in their life. But the very base is inside every individual. It means that society awakes something that is deeply rooted in the human character. So somebody is responsive to it more, somebody less and somebody fortunatelly not at all. -What is important for your happines? -So for certain to have family support and the money are also needed. And to have some aim. -Nowadays success is important, people than respect me And see me in a way which is different from that one without success Today, one has no money without success, has nothing. That´s why he is unable to do anything. He is worthless, people pass by him. And I think that that´s how it goes today. We omit that normal everyday life exists, with all its happines and worries. Normal life that is as valuable as anything else. But we don´t see that value. Because we don´t live the quality life, the life on the top, which tells us that we should be famous, successful and rich. And if we don´treach all these things, it means personal problems for us, for whole society. PAVLA STANKEOVA/WORLD CHAMPION IN THAIBOX It´s hard to say, it´s individual, somebody wants to be a celebrity and somebody does it for his own pleasure. I can´t represent all the sportsmen. The sport I do is all about adrenaline. When you get out of the ring you and your rival are friends again. The other sports I think are about fame and money. Before, the very best sportsmen usually started the sport because they enjoyed it. These days people take it as a way how to earn money and that´s what motivates them to start. JAN NAVRATIL/ FOTBALLER The posibility that football can be my job was the main impetus for me, because I think that sportsmen have easier life than normal people. When I saw the players on the field on TV, enjoying the game and simulatenously making money, I knew that that´s the easiest way how to earn money for me. The other thing is in my opinion that sportsmen don´t ask for money. They are simply glad when they get them. I think it shouldn´t be like that. When you ask the children what they want to be when they grow up, they don´t tell you they want to be a scientist they tell you they want to become a fotball player. Despite sport is great thing, it´s still some kind of entertainment. I don´t want to say that it´s useless it´s an important part of our lifes. But there are probably more serious ones. And it seems to us that what media show is the most important thing. The boys´ perspective is influenced by TV, by newspapers, by the Internet. everytime you see there rich and famous sportsmen. As a trainer I should discuss these topics with them, if it´s ok or not. DALIBOR REZNICEK/HOCKEY PLAYER In the Czech republic the media play an important role. Sometimes society treats sportsmen with disrespect. It´s thought that they are rich, that they enjoy their lives. But every sportsmen who has reached something has had to sacrifice a lot. But the society doesn´t see that. Sometimes media focus on the result which catches the most attention but they don´t show what is behind the result. We are influenced by the opinions which are formed by someone else, by majority. And I thing that that´s the big mistře and unfortunatelly media show exactly this image. However it´s not really media, but those standing in the background, following their own interests and influencing the people through media. It´s part of the game if you want to catch someones attention. Media live on that. Of course media have some teams which they prefer more than the others. I think that they force some teams to be on the top of the chart. I wouldn´t say that media tell the viewers what to watch or read. They simply follow the demand. This machinery has created idols, football idols for example. The whole movement is able to gain more attention than sports on the edge. In Thailand I won king´s cup. The queen even wanted my photo to put it into the hall of fame. But in the Czech republic nobody cared. Because it´s not an olympic sport. MICHAL SMOLA/EUROPEAN CHAMPION IN ORIENTEERING Because of my results I had the opportunity to attend various ceremonies like the best sportsmen of the Zlin region, of the the city of Zlín or the best college sportsmen. But usually the feeling of fame had stayed there. It hasn´t influenced my everyday life. The sad thing is that you can´t live on that sport but you invest a lot of efforts to it which I miss in my working life. Hopefully it wont´t sound to pathetic but I know many good, fair football or hockey players. Fair and incorrupt state sports which have resisted the influence of money and which have to fight hard for the money. And these are almost all others sports in our counry. Why big companies like Czech railways or private enterprises give money to sports which already have them? For example Davis cup, why these money don´t go to some school tournaments, or to so called unimportant sports. Why? Does it mean that when Třinec steelworks support Davis cup, it would make me buy some of their products? No way. JAN KUDLICKA/ATHLETE It´s simply a business. It's a question of demand and supply. How successful one is. The more successful one is, the higher value he has on the athletic market, the better conditions he can demand. One invests a lot of time and money, so he appreciates the money, the respect which his friends show him and so on. You have much more friends. There are more people around fooball who give you some opportunities. And it´s easier if you have more money than average people. You live more comfortably than someone who works eight hours a day. And his renumetarion is not so good. In my opinion, it would help me if i could have some part time job. I would know that if I finished with sport, I woukd already have some career, some former experience which could be useful after finishing my sport career. In this case I think that money wouldn´t be so big problem. But it doesn´t work this way. So then I understand why a sportman needs to earn enough money so he can live on that money for the rest of his life. Probably I coulnd´t do the sport on such a high level and spend all the time doing it. And to be without money isn´t the way too. I wouldn´t have so much time to play football if I had some normal job. That work is physically and mentally Demanding. I play football because I don´t want to wake up at six o´clock in the morning because of the job. I think that the decision to do the sport Proffesionally is like when you go all in. It´s a game which could have a cruel end. When you gamble you never know so its better not to risk too much. So if the parents are wise they want their child not only to do the sport but also to have some higher education. Right now we are a proffesional club. Boys should have the vision that one day they will live on the football. But on the other hand we try to show them the reality. That it´s not easy to reach this point which is not for everybody. The crucial decision whether to do the sport profesionaly or not comes when you are from seventeen to twelve. At this age family and school still play important role. I think that everyone should realize this. and not to forget that people should follow thein ideals but also that something can go wrong. It´s the same today as it used to be before that the most succesful are sportsmen who don´t care about fame. The fame is not priority for them. Who likes the game is more likely to succed than the one who does it for the money cars girls and so on. When you are good the money doesn´t satisfy you enough. There must be something else. The money can help you but it shouldn´t be Only about them. It´s twofold. The money can motivace people to reach something, to have better and easier life but sometimes it´s too much and these famous people don´t even enjoy it. When you offer someone larg sum of money for something I think that the former motivation which stems from the effort to do it for your own pleasure is prevailed by the money. Money could change the friendly enviroment which is characteristic for orienteering today. The rivality would get different form if it turned into the struggle for life. The relationships would not be the same. I think that money corrupt every sport. I think about it quite often and I say to myself what value one has. I read in the newspapers that football player of the Spanish league has left to the English one. And the sum of money is fifty milions euro. And I´m thinking it´s still just man. Which price I have?
