From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Infodumping is the tendency to share an excessive amount of information about a specific topic, while going into great detail.[1] It is common amongst neurodivergent people, especially those with autism or ADHD. Although infodumping is often represented negatively in media,[2] advocates suggest it can be beneficial for neurodivergent people, indicating comfort, vulnerability, or trust when sharing information with their neurotypical peers.[3]

Responses

Infodumping sometimes results in the interests of neurodivergent individuals being labeled as “special interests" - a term now considered outdated and offensive.[4] Neurodivergent individuals may mistake or miss non-verbal and paraverbal signals indicating the listener's lack of interest in the topic being infodumped, which can make open communication more difficult.[5]
