Hebdo- (symbol H[1][2]) is an obsolete decimal metric prefix equal to 107.[3][4][5][1][2][6][7] It is derived from the Greek hebdοmos (Greek: ἕβδομος) meaning seventh.[6][7]

The definition of one hebdomometre or hebdometre as 10000000 metres was originally proposed by Rudolf Clausius for use in an absolute electrodynamic system of units named the quadrant–eleventhgram–second system (QES system) in the 1880s.[3][4][5][8][9][10] It was based on the meridional definition of the metre, which established one ten-millionth of an Earth quadrant, or the distance from the geographical pole to the equator, as a metre.[4][5][11]

Všechny tyto jednotky odvozeny jsou z absolutního systému elektromagnetického tím, že místo jednotek pro délku a hmotu (cm a g) položeny za základ dle návrhu British Association zemský quadrant = 109cm (hebdometr) a 10−11g (undecimogramm), jakož snadno při kterékoliv z uvedených jednotek lze verifikovati.[All these units are derived from an absolute electromagnetic system, where, according to a proposal by the British Association, the units for the length and mass (g and cm), are instead based on the terrestrial quadrant = 109cm (hebdometre) and 10−11g (eleventh-gram).]

Ez okból ez a gyakorlati Hebdomometer-Undecimogramm-Secund-rendszer (HUS)-rendszer nevet is kapott. A két rendszer összefüggése csakis az ú. n. méretszámítá sok, vagyis az alapegységek hatványaiból alkotott függvények nyomán értelmezhető.
