Harris Dining Hall – also known simply as Harris Hall- was named after Andrew Lintner Harris and was one of the many dining facilities located on the campus at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Since 1961, it was the main all-you-can-eat dining hall for undergraduate students who live on the southern side of the campus. The dining hall was closed after the spring semester of the 2016/2017 school year and it is unknown whether it will reopen.[2] Harris was designed like most other buildings on campus in red brick and with a Georgian Revival architectural style.

Welcome Thespians! This is the largest national festival for high school and middle school theater students in the nation. <music> It is a week long celebration of high school theater. It's shows, it's workshops, it's all kinds of theater related activities. We have a really great relationship with UNL. Terrific staff to work with. And we work very closely with the housing people as well to house and feed our delegates while they're on campus, to get us workshop space and so forth. I really like the campus. It's just an amazing, beautiful campus. And there's a lot to do around here. The dining halls are great. The campus is beautiful. The dorms are great. They're big, they're wide. It has enough space for you and the beds are really comfortable. <group> Awesome food, great dorms, wonderful hospitality. As an adult it's been very comfortable and I'm also part o the security team so I've had a chance to see all the parts of the buildings and really appreciate the work that they do and the way that they take care of the facilities and they've been really, really easy to go to if you have any questions or problems. Planning an event is a whole lot of customer service and they hit it every single time. <desk clerk> Here's your room key... We really do get a customer service, a positive customer service attitude from the people we work with, everybody on campus. When you say "hi" they all say "hi" to you and they all smile. It's all friendly. You won't find a better team of people to help put on an event. They are incredibly organized, they are flexible, they are easy to work with. We love them, and they treat us very, very well. <music> They love coming to the University of Nebraska. We hold our camp here, this is our 17th year here on campus. The facilities directors and staff are really great to work with and organize with. They'll bend over backwards for you to get everything you need and make everything runs smoothly. It's just a really good experience for them. I like how it's all close together. My rooms are really nice and big, clean. They're comfortable to live in. Food's great! It's good. Alot of it's homemade, so that's really good. I really like the pizza. Good food, lots of friends. It's a really good experience, I would say everybody should try it. We pretty much used every single facility on campus. From the residence halls to the competitive facilies, not only were the athletes completely enthralled with what was available to them, everybody walked away happy and wishing they could stay longer. We've never had a successful event in terms of housing and food for athletes and for coaches. They all walked away when the week was over wishing that they could stay for another two weeks. So that's the best possible recommendation I can give. <music> "America, America..." We need places that can hold almost 500 people every day. And the univeristy is able to provide those venues for us. The university is a great place for a big event like this. We're able to be on campus get the kids exposed to what it's like to possibly go to school here. And it's just an outstanding partnership. Our relationship with the university in particular makes it just seemless. We have virtually use of the entire campus. The staff is really friendly and it makes me feel like I'm at home. Lincoln's a great place because it's a large city but it still has the small-town feel. Lincoln offers so many opportunities everything around the university is so close, everything is within walking distance. Having our event here on the university is very cost effective for us. Our per person prices are really low. It meets our budget every year. Everyone here is so friendy and so accomodating that you feel like you want to come back. <group chant> "everybody..." We've been at UNL for 17 years now. There's a reason we come back, that's because we think we get a great deal. We're treated well and we like it here. It's perfect, I couldn't ask for anything different. Service is impeccable. The facilities are really easy to work with and the food is great. And the dorms are clean and comfortable, and it's just an all around win-win for us. I would strongly recommend using the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Conference Services Department to help plan your event any day of the year. Not only are they dedicated and really fun to work with, they are a talented and professional group that will make sure that your event goes off without a hitch. I would highly recommend it. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Location
Harris Dining Hall is located on the South Quadrangle of Miami University's campus. Adjacent to the main dining hall in the same building are two other dining areas, Panache, a restaurant in the west side of the building, and La Mia Cucina in the east dining room. La Mia Cucina, a restaurant which opened February 3, 2010, served many different Italian dishes for students.[3] Each of these dining spaces accepted payment in the form of a meal plan or with cash or credit.
There are quite a few residence halls that border Harris Dining Hall and many of the students who live in these areas ate here because of its convenient location. Anderson Hall and Stanton Hall are located directly next to Harris Dining Hall. Dodds, MacCracken and Porter Hall are also situated in the same area on the South Quad. There are three other halls across the street, Morris, Emerson, and Tappan that form an area which is sometimes referred to as MET quad. They are also considered a part of South Quad.
History
Before Harris Dining Hall was built, the area held a temporary dining spot called South Dining Hall. In 1946, this wooden structure was purchased as war surplus from the government and used for dining services.[4] In 1961, Harris Hall was built and dedicated in a ceremony along with six other newly developed buildings. The dedication took place on the South Quadrangle of South Campus in a ceremony on September 16, 1961, at approximately 11am. President John Millett spoke at the dedication ceremony and the chairman at that time, Edward Nippert, presided over the event.[5]
Each of these new residence and dining halls, MacCracken, Dodds, Stanton, Harris, Anderson, and Porter Hall, were dedicated to people who had relations to Miami University. Two halls, Anderson and Stanton Hall, were named after past presidents of Miami. Harris Dining Hall was named after Andrew Lintner Harris, a former governor of Ohio and Miami University student.[6] Harris Dining Hall was built to be the central dining hall for South Campus.[7]
