At Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School we are 21st century teachers and learners, our aim is to help students to develop as creative innovators critical thinkers, effective communicators and collaborators. As teachers we are always learning and incorporating new and effective strategies in our classroom. I really like how the school deals with big issues for example like bullying, we have a whole week dedicated to it, talking about the teachers experiences, and how to get through it. I feel like that's really cool because a lot of schools don't have that, like my last school didn't have that. When a student enrols in the specialist high skills major in business they're enrolling in our program because they have a passion in Business Studies. It allows them to really experience what the real world is like. Business SHSMis is great it helps us focus on what we want to be in the future. Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School is that the best school. I have been here for six years. It has an amazing extracurricular program, it has great academic programs. The staff in this building are top notch they care about kids, and they do a lot to make sure that their successful. So, it's a great place to learn. In grade eight I was really overwhelmed about grade nine, I was like really scared and thought everyone was going to be like robots and stuff but then turns out everyones really cool and friendly, so yeah I really like High School it's actually fun. We offer two SHSM programs as well as an International Baccalaureate. I actually run the SHSM Justice program. and we offer many opportunities to students, such as reach ahead opportunities to universities and colleges, opportunities to go to places like Ottawa and see the Supreme court of Canada, as well as seven certifications that they complete. And they get a special seal when they complete the program. I think the programs we have to offer, the two SHSM's that we have in Justice and Business Also I'm liking we have IB now, it brings in a whole group of new grade nines that we would have never seen before. We are very excited to be offering the International Baccalaureate program at Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School. The program aims to develop knowledgeable internationally minded, and active citizens in society. IB is just really, trying to get you to be a well rounded student. You have to get good marks, but they also want you to want you to be participating in the community and like, extra curriculars and have fun too, because we're teenagers and we shouldn't be always doing work. Our popularity has definitely grown our members have doubled, because word has gotten around that robotics is the team you want to be on. People I get to work with every time I'm here, Are really hardworking bunch of students. Also just because it's really fun and realistic, the tools you work with, it's not like a classroom where you know it's a lot of theory and stuff, this is a lot of hands-on practical work. These students met the challenges head-on and it's really a testament to the character of our students, how dedicated they were, how much time they put in, how much effort they put in to make sure that this robot would get completed on time for the competition. What makes my years here the best and what I'll always remembers are the friendships I created. And the bonds I created within the programs and activities that I was in. Because I knew I wouldn't be talking to some of the people I talk to now if I didn't join these programs. The students here are some of the most nicest and most outgoing people I've ever met, and as well as the teachers they're really easy to get along with, they're very lenient. They are always there for you, no matter what, and it's just the community here is amazing. The staff is awesome, the kids have been awesome, and the community as a whole has been pretty awesome too. So it's been a very positive experience for me. Being at Brathwaite just constantly shows me that this is the place where you get to build strong minds and strong students and also be a part of a very, very good positive community.
